  • Igor Cavalera
    Drums, Percussion

  • Igor Amadeus Cavalera
    Bass, Backing Vocals
    From Aug 2023
  • Travis Stone
    Lead Guitar
    From Aug 2023

Formation facts

  • By 2022 Return Beneath Arise, the live guitar was Daniel Gonzalez and the bass was Mike Leon. Important bridge. Not another Cavalera Conspiracy card.
  • Iggor put it simply: Cavalera Conspiracy is new songs. CAVALERA is the re-recordings and playing that early material. Same soul, different faces — and it can confuse people who only read the spines.
  • On the 2023 Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions re-records, Igor Amadeus played bass and Daniel Gonzalez played lead. The Morbid Devastation tour that followed put Travis Stone on guitar instead. Studio and road are not the same quartet.
  • Schizophrenia was re-recorded with Travis Stone and Igor Amadeus, mixed by Arthur Rizk — and still billed CAVALERA. The operating quartet's first night is 29 August 2023 at Revel in Albuquerque, not the April signing announcement.
  • Into 2026 they are still selling Chaos A.D. nights as Cavalera Conspiracy — festivals, clubs, Download, Hellfest. The name is not retired just because the last physical re-records say CAVALERA.

Formation 4 of 5

May 2017 – Dec 2019

Members

  • Max Cavalera
    Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
    May 2017 – Dec 2019
  • Igor Cavalera
    Drums, Percussion
    May 2017 – Dec 2019
  • Marc Rizzo
    Lead Guitar
    May 2017 – Dec 2019

Formation facts

  • Arthur Rizk produced Psychosis and also played the studio bass and synth. He is on the tape. He is not a Cavalera Conspiracy member.
  • By May 2017 the brothers were already in the Phoenix room with Rizk. Psychosis was finished months before its November street date.
  • In 2019 the brothers took Beneath the Remains and Arise back on the road. Marc Rizzo still played lead. Mike Leon played bass. Andreas and Paulo were not invited — this was not a Sepultura reunion.
  • That Rizzo-era lineup was still the one announced for London, Birmingham and Manchester in December 2019.
  • In 2016 they had already played Roots in full under the banner Max & Iggor Cavalera Return to Roots — a nostalgia run, not a fifth original Cavalera Conspiracy studio era.

Studio albums

  • Psychosis (Nov 2017)

Formation 3 of 5

Dec 31, 2013 – 2015

Members

  • Max Cavalera
    Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
    Dec 2013 – Jan 2015
  • Igor Cavalera

    Dec 2013 – Jan 2015
  • Marc Rizzo
    Lead Guitar
    Dec 2013 – Jan 2015
  • Nate Newton
    Bass, Vocals
    Dec 2013 – Jan 2015

Formation facts

  • On 31 December 2013 Max told the press Converge's Nate Newton was the new Cavalera Conspiracy bassist for the next record.
  • Nate posted the next day: yes, bass on the new record. No, he was not leaving Converge.
  • When the brothers went quiet between records, live bass rotated — Campos filling in, Chow returning for some runs. That rotation is not three extra formations.

Formation 2 of 5

May 30, 2008 – Dec 30, 2013

Members

  • Max Cavalera
    Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
    May 2008 – Dec 2013
  • Igor Cavalera
    Drums, Percussion
    May 2008 – Dec 2013
  • Marc Rizzo
    Lead Guitar
    May 2008 – Dec 2013
  • Johny Chow
    Bass
    May 2008 – Dec 2013

Formation facts

  • Johny Chow of Fireball Ministry took the vacant bass and played his first Cavalera Conspiracy show on 30 May 2008 at Electric Weekend in Spain.
  • The touring bassist stayed long enough to record the second album. Joe was busy with Gojira. Chow put the bass on Blunt Force Trauma.
  • In July 2010 Soulfly said Johny Chow — already playing with Max and Marc in Cavalera Conspiracy — would be loaned in until they found a permanent bassist. The loan did not take him off this band.

Formation 1 of 5

Jul 2007 – May 29, 2008

Members

  • Max Cavalera
    Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
    Jul 2007 – May 2008
  • Igor Cavalera
    Drums, Percussion
    Jul 2007 – May 2008
  • Marc Rizzo
    Lead Guitar
    Jul 2007 – May 2008
  • Joe Duplantier
    Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Vocals
    Jul 2007 – May 2008

Formation facts

  • After ten silent years, Igor rang Max out of the blue on a Soulfly tour and said he wanted to patch things up.
  • Igor's wife Laima Leyton pushed him to pick up the phone. The brothers' freeze had lasted since the Sepultura split.
  • Max and Gloria met Igor at Phoenix airport with flowers. The hug was family, not a contract signing.
  • On 17 August 2006 at the D-Low Memorial in Tempe, Igor walked on with Soulfly and played Attitude and Roots Bloody Roots. He was a guest that night — not a Soulfly member, and not yet Cavalera Conspiracy.
  • After that jam Max hatched a new record — then admitted he had lied and said a pile of songs were already written. He had to go write them.
  • Inflikted had been sitting in Max's Soulfly pile. He wanted that riff with his brother. Gloria's idea: bring in Joe Duplantier from Gojira.
  • They called the band Inflikted until 22 August 2007, when other bands already using the name forced Cavalera Conspiracy. The D-Low show nine days later was still billed Inflikted.
  • Max said the new name barely had a deep meaning at first — a conspiracy against industry politics, two brothers playing like they were thirteen again.
  • In July 2007 at Undercity in Los Angeles they tracked the debut with Logan Mader: Max, Igor, Marc Rizzo, Joe — and Rex Brown dropping in on Ultra-Violent.
  • Joe really played the record. He could not play the 2008 Infliktour — Gojira needed him in the studio — so the road needed someone else.

Studio albums

  • Inflikted (Mar 2008)
